Determining the Number One Fantasy Basketball Stud

By Tracy Miller

Are you excited for a new year of basketball? I know I am, and I'd like to talk about the fantasy element of it. Leagues are in full effect right now, and I couldn't be more excited about it. This discussion will focus on who to draft at number one, as many people seem to be of differing mindsets this year. No one should complain, as every possibility is phenomenal.

While there are some top-notch players at the top of the pack, it may be difficult to figure out who might best suit your team. Depending on the stats you're targeting, you may want to go with one of the following players.

First of all, there's Chris Paul. He was hands down the number one fantasy player two seasons ago, and he wasn't much worse at all last year.

People love Paul's exceptional stats, especially when it comes to his assists and his defense. There's truly no one better in either area, and these stats will surely anchor a team in the assists and steals departments.

You might appreciate the versatility of LeBron James though. Having a forward who gets you 7+ assists per game is a rare thing, and it gives you a lot of flexibility at the guard position.

Let's not forget about the fact that LBJ blocks shots, shoots threes, and happens to be one of the best scorers in the NBA. At 25 years old, many would argue that his best days are still ahead of him. However, the same could be said of Chris Paul.

Others may argue that LeBron's free throw percentage is a bit low and his turnovers too high, both of which could hurt fantasy teams. Therefore, they prefer the similar stats of Kobe Bryant. While his rebounds and assists are a bit lower, everything else is nearly the same.

While most will go with either Paul or James, it's really a matter of personal preference. Anyone you choose at number one is sure you put some great stats up for your team. Good luck with your draft, and I hope you end up with that number one pick. - 31494
