The ACC Men's Basketball Tournament has been held every year since 1954, and even though Greensboro is right in the center of the entire conference and is the headquarters of the ACC, the first tournaments were actually held just down Interstate 40 in Raleigh, NC. The Raleigh venue was the home of the men's single elimination tournament for the first twelve years before it finally moved to Greensboro.
The return to Greensboro will be for both the 2010 and 2011 seasons, after which the games will go back to Atlanta for 2012. The games are back in Greensboro for the 2013 through 2016 seasons.
The ACC Tournament is widely regarded one of the most competitive D-1 basketball tournaments in the nation, and even though it's no longer a requirement to win the tournament in order to play in the NCAA tournament, playing well can get a team in that was previously 'on the bubble'.
The tournament will take place from March 11 - March 14 and like most tournaments around the country, is divided into 'sessions', where a single session ticket will cover two specific games on a specific day. Of course, tickets for all sessions are also available.
If you are looking for great postseason ACC basketball action, the 2010 ACC tournament will be one to remember, as future NBA stars and current Hall of Fame coaches square off over a weekend that sets the stage for the NCAA's Selection Sunday and the NCAA tournament. - 31494
